In 2008 Riccardis opened its doors to the public for the first time. Based in Humberstone just west of the city of Leicester Riccardis is a family owned and run business catering for all lovers of traditional Italian cooking and as such it prides itself on its warm homely atmosphere. On entering you will be welcomed by Tez (Teresa) the youngest of the Riccardi family. Teresa is named after her Italian Grandmother who came to Leicester in the 1950's and was employed as a cook. Teresa’s Father and Grandmother share the same roots in Solopaca a small village in southern Italy renowned for it's olive groves and very distinctive traditional cooking as well as Solopaca White Wine and the potent liqueur 'Strega'. Teresa has travelled back ‘home’ many times to visit family and friends, and loves the diversity of the laid back life that is afforded in southern Italy. At twenty four she is probably the youngest person to ever run an Italian Restaurant in Leicester but thoroughly enjoys her work and the daily challenges that restaurant life creates, she loves meeting with customers and serving her mothers traditional dishes. ‘ I love the atmosphere when the restaurant is full, and I love accepting compliments about the food, the service and the venue especially when the roaring log fire is lit’. Teresa has worked in several catering establishments in Europe as well as England, and has gleaned a wealth of knowledge to develop her expertise in excellent customer services. With the dream of running her own restaurant 'Riccardi's Italian Restaurant' on Main Street, Humberstone, she promises it to be a high-end establishment but with a warm friendly atmosphere.
